About Us
The Art Society of Inverness was founded 75 years ago and currently has around 200 members from all over the Highlands. These range from professional or semi-professional artists to those who paint for leisure, and those with an interest in learning more about the visual arts. We cater for all levels of experience. Meeting together to share activities allows us to express and share our love of art, especially painting, with like-minded people, and increase our skill and knowledge.
There are many other benefits members can enjoy:
From autumn to spring we hold monthly Saturday afternoon talks and demonstrations. These are always very informative and enjoyable, and members usually come away with some good artistic tips and a deeper understanding of art. These meetings are also an opportunity to chat with fellow members and take advantage of our library of art books, DVDs and videos.
The summer months are full of events such as trips, painting days and weekends and the Annual Exhibition of members' work.Throughout the year there are painting classes, workshops and special events.
We also have our own bi-monthly newsletter called 'Artyfacts', which is full of the latest news, events and opportunities. This is sent to all members by post.
If you would like to join, instructions are on the Membership page. We are all very friendly and welcoming. If you are unsure of your artistic abilities do not worry. We welcome anyone with an interest in the visual arts and there will be many opportunities to improve your skills, if you so wish.
