"Culloden Moor/ Cùil Lodair"
Acrylic on canvas, 100 x 100cm
A landscape of emotion. Elemental and desolate. Soft sombre colour, hidden shapes, lines – symbols of history. From a photographic start point mark and surface took over; colour, texture, roller and brush, handprint, rag work …… a career at Culloden Academy……. a grandfather crofting on The Moor……gets the place into your bones, into your heart. The blood-like slash mirrors thought, a constant when Culloden is mentioned. Wilderness or altered land, my work is expression of land or sea, being there, feeling it, knowing good and bad for us, for earth. Joy, peace and sadness or anger or just paint and mark……
